Recently, there has been an explosion of interest in singing in the UK.
Whether the result of TV programmes that have shown the creation and flourishing of choirs, or the drive to encourage our schools to sing, the fact is that more and more people are enjoying the physical, emotional, community and of course, musical benefits of singing together.
At the same time, leading UK choirs – both professional and amateur - are recognised internationally as the best in the business. We draw on a unique, centuries-old singing heritage, which has adapted to and been enriched by today’s diverse society.
There has never been a more exciting time for singing, but collaboration between a wide range of singers often only exists in small and unconnected pockets.
Voices Now seeks to change this by bringing singers of all backgrounds and abilities together with world leaders.
We create celebrations of ensemble singing on a scale and ambition not seen before. We build on the groundswell of interest in singing with a rich artistic mix delivering the best choirs in the world, numerous opportunities for participation and a bold legacy: to develop new audiences and make singing even stronger.
Our first festival in March 2011 saw over 2,000 people perform to a live audience in excess of 5,000 with thousands more listening on-line and through national radio broadcasts.
Our partners are second to none. The Roundhouse comes with its own palpable sense of excitement. Known for the diversity of its audiences, it combines artistic brilliance with boundary crossing innovation and audience accessibility, making it the ideal venue for Voices Now. Making Music provides an unrivalled network of over 200,000 individuals from music-making groups across the UK.
Together, we are committed to helping singing find its full voice.
